In Reverse Image Search, my photo montages use an algorithmic reverse image search to decode the hidden resonances in appropriated images realted to nuclear war and generate new meanings about nuclear’s connection to myth, power, games, and religion. Appropriated archival images from the New York Public Library and the National Archives in Washington D.C., I often take images that are not easily located or have not been digitized and archived online and enter them into a reverse image search on Google. By entering these images from their physical archival presence into a purely digital space, I implicate the physical and digital archives of institutions in preservering and disseminating these images for a genral public to understand the history and effects of nuclear war.
